This week, much of the hardware was brought together. The team succeeded in using the reflow oven at the rapid prototyping centre to mount the microcontroller onto the main PCB. All leads were tested for connectivity using a multimeter. For redundancy, three boards were completed and validated. The length of the ribbon cables that connect to the zif connectors was also confirmed to be the correct length for final assembly.
The header pins were also mounted. These will be used to flash the final firmware implementation onto the main PCB's microcontroller.
Extensive iterative testing was conducted on the serial bus using the development board. Optimizations are ongoing. The firmware implementation is nearing completion. Some work on the logic for display selection and keypresses is still in its initial stages.
On the mechanical side, some work on 3D files for printing of the chasis was done, which prepares the final production of the chasis.
